When We Stop Distracting Ourselves

Like the clown at the carnival with poles and spinning plates, we position ourselves as very busy, every moment needed. We must keep everything moving in some direction. Endlessly busy, dashing from here to there, we get tethered to distractions.

Then something happens. A long traffic light. A line we wait in at a store. A massage or bath. We release feeling antsy and realize we just completed a thought. Maybe we looked out a window and daydreamed. Our intuition found a moment to drop jewels of wisdom that we would have run by had we not stopped for one sweet minute.

Doing nothing is not doing nothing. It’s a stilling that allows us to be part of everything, including the collective creative consciousness.

A voice we only hear in quiet and stillness.

Doing nothing can be an act of doing more. We have access to endless wisdom and insights. Seeking them in text, phone calls, and searches online create white noise Blocking the truth, the insights, the quiet gifts we can claim.

Be still. Stop distracting yourself for a few quiet minutes. Sit beneath a tree or put your feet in a cold stream and just BE. This is when expansion comes. Being busy constricts our lives.

Doing nothing is impossible, doing nothing is never nothingness.

Find a quiet time to see what messages are circulating for you. Can you slow and hear the whispers of your soul? Inspired intentions that can bring you joy and love? Let the spinning plates fall. What will you find In your less busy mind and heart when you’re not distracting yourself?
